Employers who kept their businesses open during 2020 and 2021 may be eligible for Employee Retention Tax Credits (ERTC) even if they already filed for Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) benefits. The updated application was created by Certified Public Accountants (CPA) to help business owners determine their eligibility with just a few questions.

To file a claim with the updated application, employers will need to upload their 941 returns, PPP loan documents, and raw payroll data to the company’s secure server. With that information, the team’s ERTC specialists can determine their maximum claim amounts, and help them to file the proper documents with the IRS, who will send them a check in the mail.
In 2021, the eligibility requirements for the ERTC program were amended, with the passing of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, which allowed business owners to claim tax credits even if they had already received a PPP loan. The program was also extended to September 30, 2021.
Employers can claim up to 50% of the first $10,000 in wages paid to eligible employers in each quarter from March 1st to December 31st, 2020. In 2021 that amount was increased to 70%, allowing employers to claim up to $7,000 per employee, per quarter.
Business owners who have already filed for 2020 can still receive their tax credits by filing an amendment, using a 941-X form. The ERTC specialists have helped business owners to claim up to $21,000 per employee for 2021 alone.
All claims filed with the ERC Today team are handled by Certified Public Accountants to maximize the potential tax credits while ensuring all the paperwork is processed properly and as quickly as possible. Their team has helped businesses ranging from hair salons and pizza shops to non-profits and healthcare professionals.
